Roundhouse

Roundhouse .003 & .004 (2002)

Sarah Macdonald

Photo taken of two large framed print-influenced pieces. The roof of the Roundhouse is repeated like a wave in dark blue, and flows from one frame into the other. There are signs of the elevated railway in red as well as the light blue sky as a backdrop.

Through these distinctive pieces, Macdonald seeks to articulate the evolutionary journey of the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm—a metamorphosis from an engine shed to a historic cultural venue.

The Roundhouse, with its storied history, becomes a focal point for artistic exploration. Hosting legendary performances by iconic musicians such as The Rolling Stones, Jeff Beck, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, The Doors with Jefferson Airplane, Ramones, The Clash, and many more, the venue echoes with the echoes of music history.
